Located in Waukegan, this large stone arch bridge crosses the Waukegan River.
A faded date carving indicates that this bridge was built in 1882. It features two stone arch spans, set onto stone substructures. It was built for three tracks.
Double stone arch bridges were commonly used to cross larger creeks and small rivers. They are exceptionally durable and reliable.
Unfortunately, no records on this bridge have yet been found. Because of the faded condition of the date carving, the 1882 date is assumed but cannot be confirmed.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition. No major deteriortion was found on the bridge.
The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the older age.
